The Eye Work Out!

Going to the gym is a great way to work out your body; lifting weights, step aerobics, spin class, cardio… Now, how about those body parts that we tend to forget about? These are the most important muscles of all. You know; the ones you use to check out all of the other heavily greased and spandex laden bodies at the juice bar. They’re your eyes! And they need just as much exercise and rest like every other muscle you flex.

Feel the Burn

Have you ever had one of those days, when you still have a ton of work to do and there seems to be no end in sight? You are tired and starting to feel the strain in your eyes from sitting in front of the computer all day long.
Close your eyes. Meditate. Relax. Just breathe. And then, if you absolutely have to finish up, do a few eye exercises.

When you do regular eye exercises you are helping to improve your eyesight. Eye exercises are also known to help prevent various eye diseases, like near and farsightedness.

Exerc-EYES

Here are a few eye exercises for you to try out:

  1. Roll your eyes. You did it as a teenager when you didn’t get your way, now you can do it without the worry of getting into trouble! Look to one side and slowly roll your eyes clockwise. Pause for a moment when you look up, continue the clockwise roll, and then pause when you look down. Repeat these steps, rolling your eyes in a counterclockwise motion. Do this either way 5 times each.
  2. Move your eyes and focus. Stand or sit up and look straight ahead. Keep your head stationary as you look to the right. Pause and focus. Then look to the left. Pause and focus. Do the same in an up and down motion, as well as a diagonal motion, 5 times for each movement.
  3. Massage motion. Close your eyes and gently massage your eyelids in a clockwise direction. Repeat in a counterclockwise direction. Furrow your eyebrows, with your eyes still closed and massage your forehead and temples. Do this continuously; not only does it help with relaxing the tension in your eyes and face, but it feels good too!
